Systems Integration Manager

drugstore.com is looking for a motivated individual with solid experience in the area of system software and hardware integration to lead our System Integration activities. The candidate must have strong integration analytical and troubleshooting skills to understand system interfaces and be able to quickly analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system interoperability problems.  The position will focus on drugstore.com?s service and product integration and distribution activities.  The candidate will work closely with our partner and vendor software, hardware, integration and test teams to solve technical challenges in support of service and product launch objectives.  In this role, you will plan and design system integration test plans for a new consumer service initiative and support the integration of new software and product releases.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop System Integration test plans. Develop and execute System integration test cases and procedures and report results. Define test environment configurations. Plan and conduct end-to-end System Integration and Performance testing using established engineering standards and practices along with industry tools. Integrate and troubleshoot complex Service and Product architecture. Support System Integration and Service Launch troubleshooting activities. Establishes and maintains Business Unit business requirements (communicated by Business Line Managers), and engages Functional Groups and Partners to maximize outcomes for all stakeholders. Manages the approved Partner and/or second tier supply base to leverage spend while managing total costs. Maintains, understands & influences our Partners capability to meet internal requirements (e.g., capability roadmap). Prepares and negotiates contracts and SOW's. (Cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, technological aspects, as well as other attributes important to the enterprise.) Applies financial analysis and data to drive decision making. Establishing metrics for partner performance and manages performance through weekly/monthly metrics reviews. Understands, evaluates and takes advantage of industry status/changes to maximize value and minimize risk, influencing technology, discontinuities, M&A's, and financial performance. Advises management on contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretation of terms and compliance with the sourcing manager. Compares contrasts and prioritizes amongst alternative approaches to meet business objectives. Uses judgment to suggest approaches that optimize customer needs in an environment of business/technology constraints. Creates clearly documented personal goals, plans, designs and results and communicates to both "functional" and "cross functional" audiences. Ensures buy-in from clients, suppliers and functional partners.

 

EXPERIENCE:Experience with integration of large distributed systems. Knowledge and working experience with Web Services, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), SQL, HTML, HTTP/XML, Network Protocols, Wireless Protocols, Multimedia Content, GIS, JAVA (J2ME/J2EE), UNIX, Oracle, Web Servers and Application servers. Experience testing distributed technologies, preferably client/server and web-based software. Practical experience integrating hardware and software components in an ISP/ASP environment or similar multi-component application and/or wireless network environment. Regression test suite experience. Experience with performance testing. Experience working in a complex system development environment. Extensive experience in bringing up a large scale system. Demonstrated ability to analyze and isolate complex system level problems Significant experience working at the system level HW and SW. Demonstrated teamwork and flexibility in previous work assignments. This position will act as the advocate and liaison between the vendors and various internal departments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred. 5-10 years experience in System software and hardware integration and troubleshooting. 5 years of relevant experience in integration of application or wireless services and/or products. Ability to effectively interface with internal staff, partners, and vendors. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Proven track record of negotiating and implementing complex contracts. Creative thinker.
