Systems Specialist

The System Specialist is responsible for monitoring application and database configurations and security events to ensure critical client applications, databases, systems, infrastructure and data are protected.

 

Applications include Oracle-based SAP, PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, and IPV as well as SQL Server-based DDA using third party tools and in-house developed tools.

 

Duties include monitoring, researching events, and interfacing with end users to determine causes and solutions to security problems.

Also responsible for account exception processing and tracking to ensure that exceptions to Corporate IT policy are properly approved, documented, and tracked for currency. Additional responsibilities include support of internal IT Security systems including servers, desktops, appliances, networking devices, and backup software on a variety of platforms; license tracking; and troubleshooting general networking- and server- based problems.

 

Required Skills:

?  1+ years of experience in database security and configuration.

?  Knowledge of OS, Database, and Network security and configuration.

?  Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical staff.

?  Attention to detail, ability to follow detailed processes, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

?  High level of competency with UNIX and Win32 operating systems.

Desired Skills:

?  SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server training and certifications preferred.

?  Familiarity with GWI ticketing application and Help Desk trouble ticketing processes.

?  Familiarity with Corporate Security policies and business processes.

?  SQL Scripting. CISSP, MCSE, CCNA, CCNE, DBA, etc. certifications preferred.

 

Education:

Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or 2 years of equivalent work experience in Information Technology or Security.
