MSD is an employee-owned company of over 600 professionals who support the diverse technical, scientific, and administrative needs of the Federal government. We are currently searching for an experienced Task Controller. This opportunity is permanent, full-time, and on site in Fairfax, Virginia.
Position Overview:
This position involves working with the director and staff of a line-of-business division to provide contract support, accounting, and analysis at program (contract) and division levels; establish, improve, or document program financial management practices as needed; and collaborate closely with the corporate contracts and finance departments to ensure corporate and division needs and standards are met. Duties include: integral participation in the proposal process, task tracking, burn rates, status reporting, maintenance of division financial spreadsheets; support for establishing and continuously improving program financial management practices for EVM; contract administration support; and ensuring compliance with contract terms.
Required Skills:
Potential candidates must have firm grasp of government contracting and knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, along with knowledge of contracting and accounting standards, particularly for federal contracting. They must have experience providing financial support for program (contract) management. Familiarity with invoicing, burn-rate analysis to include estimate at completion reports, and other program and contract administration and accounting practices is also required. Understanding of earned-value management (EVM) and the ability to support EVM program accounting are preferred. This position requires a strong team player who can work effectively with multiple stakeholders and coordinate multiple ongoing activities. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, problem-solver, and diplomat with strong organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. This position requires the ability to represent the company with distinction to partners and clients.
Must Haves:
Expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel is absolutely required; knowledge and experience using Microsoft Project is strongly preferred.
Educational Requirements:
Four to six years of directly applicable experience are required. At minimum a college degree is required; a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or a related field and training in government contracting are strongly preferred.
