Technical Architect

The Technical Architect as part of the Technology Planning Group will be responsible for the technology planning and design choices available to address the business requirements. This includes the implementation, deployment and operational guidance for any new or existing product development.

 

 On a project/assignment basisPlan technical solutions that provide availability, reliability, stability, manageability, scalability and security that can be fully supported as an ASP or by our customers.Provide planning, consultancy, documentation and knowledge transfer expertise as required to the business units and customers for new technologies. Carry out evaluation and selection of vendors of appropriate technologies to be used  for the provision of solutions to meet customer and business requirements.Build, develop and maintain effective working relationships between Technology Planning and Business Units/Customers to fulfil business goals. Develop and maintain effective business/project relationships with Data Centre Operations thus ensuring all Business requirements from the Business Units and Customers are met by CTO group.Adhere to PIA/Technology Planning policies and practices in all activities. Where appropriate make recommendation for improvements to increase efficiencies and effectiveness.

 

Education and training

Bachelor?s degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the lab

 Knowledge and skillsProven track record in leading the analysis and design of large, complex, high performance, high availability and scalable enterprise applications. Characteristics include: a deep understanding of the technical architectures/products, an ability to effectively apply technical architecture/product knowledge to the technical portion of our business solutions, and an understanding of the needs of the industry to which solutions are delivered.Proven skills in the effective project management of complex, multi-disciplined resources and technologies. A wide, extensive knowledge of multiple infrastructure/application technologies including (but not limited to): Mainframe (IBM/UNISYS), Open Systems (UNIX/LINUX), Enterprise Databases, Middleware, Web services, Application development platforms, testing tools,  J2EE, .NET, HTML, High Availability designs and technologies.Well-developed abilities to effectively communicate technical issues to business people, and business issues to technical people. An understanding of business finance practices, so as to produce valid cost of ownership models and financially sound business justifications.Demonstrated ability to convert business requirements into functional solution architecture. Ability to exert considerable influence on stakeholders and exhibit willingness to compromise where necessary.Proficiency with design and infrastructure management methodologies and processes.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent presentation skills. Open thinker with the ability to provide imaginative, ?outside the box? solutions where the need demands.
