Technical Lead Software Engineer SAP Development

Business Information Systems develops and supports a wide variety of internal business systems. These systems provide automated processes for three major business areas: Finance, Order Processing (Order to Cash), and Pub/Manufacturing. Although most Business Systems reside in SAP R/3, over 40 additional systems are supported outside of SAP (both custom built and purchased packages). Interfaces to support e-commerce, CRM, and Marketing applications are also supported. Future BIS projects include efforts to increase efficiencies of business operations, increase or retain revenue, consolidate/interface business operations across TLR and Thomson, and leverage business systems (SAP) in other TLR or Thomson companies.
The Technical Lead of Business Information Systems provides technical leadership in the use and development of enterprise business system solutions. This position?s primary focus is on SAP and related technologies. The Technical Lead will:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technology (50%)
? Master development tools and technologies used to build solutions in SAP
? Understands industry tools and technology and how their implementation affects project goals.
? Demonstrates the ability to apply new technology or methodology to existing business or system problems.
? Generates innovative approaches and solutions to complex problems.
? Evaluates current technology and recommends tools for implementation within a project or department.
? Sets overall architecture for a project working with Architect of Business Information Systems
? Proactively evaluates and implements best practices for technology and methodology.
? Assist in the development and enforcement of technical and programming standards.
? Construct key development applications, as well as provide development and application performance support.
Leadership and Communication (25%)
? Communicates in a professional manner when interacting with staff, peers or customers.
? Communicates well with both technical and business staff.
? Communicates departmental and project strategies.
? Leads design and implementation efforts for complex problems, prototypes and systems.
? Leads, coaches and mentor colleagues in developing technical skills and following best practices and methodologies.
? Formulates, recommends and communicates technical options on specific projects
? Frames technical issues for management and efficiently drives decisions
? Participates in department level project and process planning activities.
? Proactively identifies, recommends and implements improvements to the development lifecycle.
? Keeps current on new technology, methodology and process direction within the industry.
Business Acumen and Strategy (25%)
? Understands the key TLR business processes, goals, and drivers.
? Translates business requirements and goals into technical solutions.
? Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies to meet business objectives.
? Generates relevant ideas for new and improved use of technology based on knowledge of the business, product and customer need.
? Forms and implements strategic technical vision at the project level and assists in forming the BIS department technical vision.
? Collaborates with peers, architects, and managers to determine project strategy and how to implement it.
? Understands and assists in creation of departmental strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? 8+ years experience in information technology, including 5 years in development role.
? 2+ years in a technical leadership role directing technical design or architectural direction.
? Previous design and development experience.
? Knowledgeable of SAP application and infrastructure.
? ABAP programming experience.
? 4-year college degree or 2 year technical degree with equivalent experience.
