Technical Project Manager

Spherion Professional Services Group, a top 5 Fortune 1000 staffing firm, is currently looking for experienced Technical Project Managers. Our client is the global leader in educational publishing, providing scientifically research-based print and digital programs to help students learn at their own pace, in their own way. The Technical Project Manager will manage all phases of the project life cycle. This Technical Project Management position is senior level and requires interfacing with multiple business units and other application teams. The ideal candidate will have enough technical experience to manage development efforts with the assistance of a Software Engineering Architect, and be business-savvy enough to assist Products Management in translating sales, marketing and learning objectives into technical solutions. The Technical Project Manager should be comfortable communicating with and engaging remote teams of both technical and non-technical resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Manage software development projects from initiation through closing
? Facilitate the process of scope definition and feature prioritization with product management
? Oversee the implementation of the project on a daily basis with regard to schedule, budget, and quality.
? Develop a project schedule and supporting plan and ensure adherence to the plan by all project participants
? Work with project stakeholders to clarify requirements in an iterative process
? Report project progress to management and monitor the project budget

 

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 3 years experience as a project manager, PMP a plus
Bachelors degree, preferably in computer science or equivalent technical experience
Thoroughly understands project management methodology (PMBOK or similar)
Experience with formal software development process is required
Comfortable using MS Project Server- experience administering an MS Project Server instance would be a benefit
Experience with iterative SDLC process (RUP, Agile, etc) is desired
Strong understanding of relational databases and multi-tiered Web applications
Scrupulous attention to detail

Demonstrable ability to effectively manage geographically disperse teams, consisting of technical and non-technical members, in a matrix organization
