Technical Support Specialist

The Technical Support Specialist is the face of the company in our client?s eyes. Therefore, we place a premium on finding the right individual to represent our company in such a critical role.

The successful candidate will provide second-line application support of our healthcare staff scheduling software products. The Technical Support Specialist responds to incoming customer calls over the phone and via email and performs technical troubleshooting to resolve software concerns and maintains our incident tracking solution with detailed client information related to those calls. (S)he would coordinate with customers, internal staff and external technology suppliers to identify solutions for resolving open incidents. (S)he will have the capability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and the desire to work in a team environment. (S)he must possess excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to resolve team issues in a positive manner and the ability to learn current systems (version nearing release now and new ones to follow quickly) and participate in the evolutionary advancement of systems capabilities. Finally, the technical support specialist would perform quality assurance/follow-up on related customer requests. The successful candidate will also participate in on-call rotation for support outside business hours.

The ability to work in an environment that fosters the exchange of ideas and knowledge with co-workers is essential. Demonstrated success in problem solving, effective troubleshooting and decisive decision making skills are necessary, as are strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Requirements:
 Expert understanding of applications support and troubleshooting for standard (off-the-shelf) and non-standard (internally developed) applications in a technical setting is essential
 Advanced knowledge of SQL and Access databases and related support activities is required
 The ability to troubleshoot networking and connectivity issues is essential. Advanced knowledge of networking configurations (NT and Novell), networking protocols (especially TCP/IP), related services (WINS, DNS, DCOM, MDAC, etc.), utilities and routing
 Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems as well as related features and capabilities is required
 Solid understanding of the software development life cycle is preferred
 Experience with C++ and .NET development and Crystal Reports

Special Position Requirements:
 Scheduled on-call after-hours support rotation
 Ability to efficiently communicate with remote users is essential

Four year degree preferred in Computer Information Systems and a minimum of 2 years combined direct software customer service experience and/or information technology support required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
