Job Title:  Technical Writer and Training Manager

 

Status:  Full Time

 

Description:

The Technical Writer/Training Manager reports to the service manager. The person in this position acts as in individual contributor and as a project manager on technical writing and training development projects. The technical writing includes online help, user guides, and installation guides for Scribe?s application integration product and for integrations built on Scribe?s technology platform. The training development part of the position is focused on training technical consultants at Scribe?s partners how to apply Scribe?s software to application integration projects. Scribe is interested in improving its training courses to be of increased depth and more easily accessible. Scribe?s training materials are used in a blended learning environment and take the form of live Web meeting presentations, recorded sessions, hands on lab exercise guides, and online certification tests.

 

Responsibilities:Develop new and improve existing online help, user guides, and reference manuals for Scribe?s products and packaged application integration templates Project management for training and technical writing projects Manage contractors where appropriate for development of training and documentation deliverables Develop new training courses Maintain and update existing training courses Improve the accessibility of self-service and on demand training resources Improve the student management process Evaluate training effectiveness by assessing student performance and feedback Work closely with Scribe?s subject matter experts in the development of documentation and training course material Work with Scribe?s product management and sales/partner management groups to set training and documentation development priorities Train Scribe?s trainers on how to deliver the new course material

 

Skills and Experience:Strong written an oral communications skills 3 or more years experience with training and technical writing development and management Project management experience Learning management systems Help authoring tools Ability to work in a collaborative environment or on own

 

Software Skills:

The best qualified candidate would have experience with some of the following software applications:Word PowerPoint Acrobat RoboHelp RoboDemo/Captivate Breeze

 

Education:BA/BS Degree in English, Technical Communications, or computer related course of study Technical writing and instructional design certifications are a plus
