Information Architect (Unstructured Information Expert)
The Information Architect (IA) plays a critical role in the overall ability to provide internal and external knowledge workers with timely, consumable and relevant unstructured and semi-structured content. The role incorporates computer science, information science and information design methods to document, image, print stream, records, workflow, portal and knowledge management architectures. This proven leader will support the design, development and implementation of an industry-leading Enterprise Content Management capability for CNA.
The IA will work closely with internal business customers and standards committees in analyzing and inventorying existing repositories and establishing an enterprise-wide integrated information architecture, creating a unified logical view of information, and extending and complying with a J2EE component-based and services oriented architecture. This position will be responsible for condensing complex technical issues into simple and understandable concepts, assisting in the evaluation and re-engineering of business processes to take full advantage of new information architecture advances, communicating the ECM strategy and its benefits, leading/influencing business and technical personnel without direct authority over them. The IA will assume the role of subject matter expert in various information architecture projects, as well as, the role of an enterprise architect on broader corporate initiatives. Candidates will only be considered if they possess comprehensive experience in enterprise content management, not web content management.
Requirements
A proven background in the concepts and application of standards/practices for capturing, organizing, managing, searching, retrieving, presenting and archiving unstructured and structured information/data, with a working knowledge of current data and content integration methods and an understanding of records management and information lifecycles.
o Knowledge of all enterprise content management technology areas with 5 + years experience architecting ECM solutions.
o Experience in information architecture and information design.
o Experience in designing and developing structured and unstructured data models, databases, taxonomies, indexes, vocabularies, navigational structures and meta-data standards.
o BA/BS degree in computer science, MIS, information science, Masters Degree is preferred.
o Experience with FileNet P8, Mobius, J2EE, XML and HTML in an application development environment is preferred.
o Proven ability to understand knowledge worker needs, objectives and practices.
o Experience in evaluating/selecting software and negotiating with and managing vendors.
o Strong business focus with excellent problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills.
o Proven experience resolving project issues, achieving on-time delivery across multiple ongoing projects, and developing cross-departmental consensus, collaboration and coordination in difficult business and technical situations.
o Highly motivated, self-directed and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
o Property & Casualty Insurance experience.
