User Interface Designer

Estimated Contract Duration: 4-6 weeks
This opportunity will require a talented User Interface Designer to play a key role in driving new UI design for an online web publishing application. The UI designer must bring a strong sense of design innovation and passion for designing web-based products with extreme ease-of-use. The redesign must drive goals creating efficiencies for internal users and promoting customer self-updating.
The User Interface Designer will be primarily responsible for creating prototypes, storyboards and mockups to effectively communicate designs to the R&D organization. The User Interface Designer?s rapid prototyping skills will also play a critical role in usability testing. The User Interface Designer may also assist in defining functional interaction requirements.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develop prototypes, storyboards, annotated wireframes and mockups based on functional interaction requirements.
- Create process and experience flows
- Write UI Specifications for integration with product and platform requirements
- Work collaboratively with others to design and specify the user interface for a software product
- Work closely with business and technical teams to ensure successful user interface specification, design, and implementation
- Work with product development to conduct customer studies of mockups, prototypes and existing interfaces; and iterate designs based on usability test results.
Qualifications:
- 2 or more years of experience in product development teams working on UI design.
- Bachelor?s degree preferred concentration in Human Factors or Visual Design is highly desired
- Extensive experience with the full development life cycle
- Ability to translate user needs and goals into highly functional UI Designs
- Strong written and verbal skills, including the ability to work with multiple functional and business teams
- Strong client-facing skills
- Experience with 3 of the following: User Experience Design, Prototyping, Information Architecture, and Usability
- Knowledge of how to best design to solve business and user problems. Ability to understand the needs of customers.
- Design fundamentals including information design, visual design, industry UI standards, ease of use best practices.
- Experience with design tools is required. Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio, Dreamweaver. Flash or Visual Studio experience is a plus.
