User Research - Interaction Designer/Usability Validation - Enterprise Software User-Centered Design

Job Description:
The Mitchell User Experience department is looking for an Interaction Designer (IxD) with a penchant for usability validation. The IxD will be responsible for designing the human-computer interaction of Mitchell's applications by working closely with a multidisciplinary team including Sales, Product Management, Architecture, Development and QA, as well as our target customers and end-users. The IxD?s primary function is to ensure our applications meet our users? needs through iterative design, prototyping and evaluation.

Focus and major areas of accountability: Iteratively design and develop prototypes for review with target customers and usability evaluations with target users. Evaluate prototypes and current applications to ensure they meet our customers' workflow and users' objectives. Identify target customers' end-users and their needs through surveys, interviews and observations. Create usability plans and coordinate usability evaluation event activities. Author usability reports to capture evaluation results. Document UI screen and component designs through UI Specifications.

 

 



Requirements:
BS in Computer Science or Cognitive Science required, MS a plus. Minimum of two years Usability or HCI experience or equivalent with enterprise software. Ability to introduced formal user-centered design methodology into the organization. Rich range of user research methodology (e.g., contextual inquiry, card sorting, surveys) and design methods (e.g., participatory design, conceptual modeling, usability testing).Must demonstrate the ability to partner with corporate clients and internal web development, extracting and interpreting requirements and uniting internal business goals with external customer needs.Demonstrated experience with prototyping user interface designs using HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Demonstrated experience conducting usability evaluations and communicating results. Experience with .NET a plus.
