VOIP Systems Engineer

The systems engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of network applications - primarily voice and video services - including IP telephony, voice mail, contact center applications, voice conferencing, video conferencing, web/on line conferencing, and application management tools. In addition to these technical responsibilities, the systems engineer is charged with communicating the status regarding network application initiatives to staff and management, vendors, and internal customers. The primary focus of this position is deploying and maintaining a Cisco AVVID-based IP telephony solution. The telephony environment includes Cisco AVVID-based solutions including Call Manager, Unity voice mail, IPCC, and Meeting Place. The video environment includes Polycom (endpoints) and Cisco (MCUs) video conferencing, plus Crestron control systems and peripheral components from EIKI and Smart Technologies. Management tools/services include Cisco Works and Cisco ROS (previously NetSolve). Skills/Knowledge In-depth knowledge in planning, design, and implementation of telephone systems in general and Cisco IP telephony specifically is required. Excellent oral and written communications skills, and interaction with end users, vendors, and technical staff is required. Knowledge of or skills in performance tuning and testing is required. Knowledge of project management methodologies and change management processes is required. Knowledge in planning, design, and implementation of video conferencing systems is a plus.

Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements Seven to 9 years IT work experience along with a Bachelors degree is required. CCNA, CCNP, IP Telephony Support Specialist, MCP 70-290, Unity Support Specialist, CCVP certifications - completed or in progress - required. CCDA, IP Telephony Design Specialist, MCP 70-284, MCP 70-285, and Unity Design Specialist certifications are preferred.
