Web Editor In Chief

The BMW Car Club of America, Inc. seeks an experienced and creative online editor who has it all ? a love of BMWs, demonstrated writing ability, great ideas, people skills, a passion for cars and the technical know-how to get things done. This individual will work at all levels -- from helping to define online strategies to managing a team that updates Web content daily and sometimes hourly.  The ability to write compelling copy and lots of it is essential.

 

www.bmwcca.org , the official website of the BMW Car Club of America, Inc., is the premier car club website in the world. It is the club?s face to the world and a resource for our members, capturing the unique perspectives of BMW enthusiasts. The site includes contributions from our members, as well as from selected journalists, with a constant emphasis on matters interesting and pertinent to our members. The Web Editor establishes the personality of the site and manages the creation of editorial content in such a way as to reflect and enhance the stated purpose and goals of the BMW Car Club of America.

 

The online editor will have a leadership role in determining Web site content and developing innovative ways to use the Web as a vehicle to deliver content and enable revenue generation. This person will also work closely with the publication staff, that are embracing integration of electronic and print media.

Responsibilities

? Work with the Executive Director to devise online strategies and implement the strategic plan for BMW  CCA?s Web site and electronic news blasts to the membership

? Determine appropriate content, then collaborate with staff and outside contributors to implement

? Establish content review processes and guidelines

? Conceptualize new online products and services, then work with staff to implement

? Generate story ideas and write news

? Research topics, find subject matter experts, and cultivate experts as contributors

? Oversee all online content; proofreading and rewriting as necessary

?? Oversee staff that is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and updates to site

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



?  Four-year college degree; publishing, communications, English, marketing, or related coursework preferred

?  Established journalistic and/or editorial track record

?  Appreciation for, and preferably in-depth knowledge of BMWs and BMW  history

?  Familiarity with word processing software; Word preferred

?  Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook email software

?  Familiarity with Adobe,  Photoshop and Illustrator software

?  Familiarity with web editing tools

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



?  Familiarity with AP style

?  Familiarity with club-type organizations
