The Opportunity
The Web Software Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining parts of Instron?s web sites. The focus is on software development, database design as well as system administration. Specific areas of responsibility include:
Software DeveloperDevelops functional specifications based on requirementsWrites and reviews use casesDesigns and implements solutionsWrites test casesPerforms code reviews and testingMaintains existing solutions
Datebase DesignerDesigns and implements databases including stored procedures, triggers, relationships, etc.Design, implements and maintains securityMaintains existing solutions
GeneralConsiders product quality in all aspects of design: product performance, consistency, usability, robustness, testability, supportability, re-usability and scalability.Search engine optimizationAll aspects of server administration
Requirements
Must be excited about web technologies and be able to create and maintain real-life web applications in a timely manner.Must be able to plan, estimate, schedule and execute projects.Bachelor?s degree in computer science (Masters degree preferred).Must be able to effectively mentor and direct less senior team members and contractors.Thorough understanding of web technologies and modern programming concepts.Expert knowledge of HTML, ASP.NET, VS.NET, T-SQLStrong database design skills (SQL server)Familiarity with security best practices. Working knowledge of Windows2003 server, SQL server, IIS, SharePoint team services and WSS.Ability to work well in a team environment.Fast learner. Able to learn and utilize a wide range of applications and tools.Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
