WebLogic Administrator / Developer

Job SummaryThis position will be part of a Systems Services workgroup and will be the lead administrator for 12 WebLogic servers (two 4 node WebLogic clusters in production and 4 development servers). This position will also be taking the lead in tool development to support the developers. The first area will be the development of a new automated build, test and deployment system used by 26 Business Application developer to move their code into development and ultimately to the production cluster.

ResponsibilitiesOn call support of production WebLogic servers on Linux. Business hours support for development systems
Support systems serving Applications to international and domestic offices
Support systems serving external applications and content to the internet. Some of these systems will be offsite.
This position will be required to carry a pager in a rotating pool.
Support development and testing environment in the Natick office
Must be comfortable making decisions or recommendation on resolutions in critical down time situations. Know when to escalate to and include others before spinning their wheels excessively
Prior experience working with developers to resolve bugs and performance
Ability to Debug applications based on core dumps or exception stack traces.
Knowledge of monitoring tools and integrating them with WebLogic is a strong plus.
Ability to understand code that is running on the server and help developers leverage WebLogic features and functionality
Ability to participate in code and design reviews.
Working knowledge of both Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems is required
The candidate must be able to present changes to WebLogic architecture to developers. Ability to create knowledge sharing presentations to help developers understand and leverage the systems capabilities.
Must be able to learn on the job and explore new technologies that will make us more effective. Must be able to design infrastructure changes to meet changing needs of developers and end users.
Lead in the building of tools to support the infrastructure.
Building tools and utilities to aid production support,such as monitoring and automated problem resolution.
Building a build and test system for compiling and deploying code through the development stages.
Prior experience with developing a build automation system helpful.
Prior experience in working with Open Source software such as building, configuring and integrating it.
Team work in both the Systems Services and Business Application groups

QualificationsBS /MS in computer science or related field.
4-7 years experience with at least 3 years as a developer.
Java development skills Must have ability to develop applications in Java
Demonstrated capabilities in shell, Perl scripting
Experience tuning java applications and WebLogic server
Experience using and administering CVS version control system a strong plus
Linux/UNIX knowledge
WebLogic clustering
Knowledge of Web services and EJB
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Previous experience designing and building software
Experience in Apache Web Server maintenance and support
Prior administration of WebLogic product line
Nice to have
Experience with monitoring systems (Tivoli, Wiley, BMC)
Perl (Ant) scripting experience
Experience with freemarker framework
