WebSphere Architect

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for performing product design, problem verification and resolution, release testing, and beta support on applications software projects which may require research and analysis.

 

Essential Job Duties:

1. Applies WebSphere development (WAS, WSAD, Portal, WBI, etc) and administrative skills to the analysis, design, development, and implementation of WebSphere centered custom applications. Interprets and designs functional units based on requirements including integration and performance criteria. Builds and integrates functional units. Unit and system tests functional units based on performance and integration criteria. Follows coding and architectural guidelines.

a. Performs design, implementation and maintenance of single product modules/sub-systems or

 on lower level issues of multiple products.

b. Prepares technical documentation of product sub-systems.

c. Conducts the unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits. Provides changes

 to source code to accommodate for additional functionality.

2. Understands and resolves client?s business and technical problems requiring a knowledge of suite of WebSphere development technologies, including web-based portals, Java development environment and Oracle or DB2 Server databases.

3. Continually employs problem solving techniques to anticipate issues and correct situations.  Researches problems discovered through quality assurance and develops solutions to the problems. making changes to the code and/or configuration files as needed.

4. Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.

5. Maintains performance and integration criteria throughout the life of the components and corrects minor deviations.

6. May perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred and/or equivalent experience.

? 2-4 years of experience in the analysis, design, coding and support of basic applications.

? Ability to create functional and technical design specifications for software development efforts.

? Basic technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation.

? Analytical and design skills at single product/single environment level.

? Skills in research, project planning and implementation.

? Basic understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.

? Awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans.

? Ability to multi-task and to prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must  escalate appropriate issues to management in a timely fashion

? Good written and verbal communications skills, along with positive, professional, and friendly communication skills are a must.

? Highly organized individual with excellent problem-solving and project management skills.

? Ability to work well as a team member.

? Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, etc.).

? Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.
