The WebSphere Application Server (WAS) WebContainer team is searching for a software engineer to join its Level 3 (L3) customer support team. This team investigates and resolves problems reported by customers who are deploying the WAS product and associated applications. This position will focus on customers using the WebContainer functionality on distributed and zOS platforms. Members of this team will get a first-hand understanding of how IBM products are used in the field. L3 team members also work with other L3 and L2 support teams, both within WAS and other IBM products, to provide the best possible support to our customers. Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize workload based on an ever-changing set of parameters. Evening, weekend, and holiday work will sometimes be required due to customer requirements. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Math, or similar field or equivalent. Java/J2EE, Web App technologies (JSPs and Servlets), Communication Skills, Problem Determination/Debugging skills, WebSphere App Server, and CMVC are all essential skills. Must have experience in either software product development or software product support. The right candidate must have excellent debugging skills. Resourcefulness and adaptability are key skills needed to resolve deep technical problems. Written and verbal communications skills are needed to work both within IBM, and with external customers.
