We are seeking a motivated junior to mid level Windows Administrator who is a self starter to join our Data Center Administration Team.  The Windows Administrator will share responsibility for administering a high availability, hosted environment and managing a mixed network of Windows and Redhat Linux servers.  The ideal candidate will work well in a fast paced environment and deal professionally with internal and external clients.  The Windows Systems Administrator will work very closely with the Operations team members to ensure we adequately monitor and troubleshoot the application to meet business and technical demands. 

 

To be eligible for this position, candidate must be a US Citizen and able to pass federal background investigation(s).

 

Essential Functions:

Support of systems using the Windows platforms, including:

? Installation and configuration of OS software, system tools and remote access solutions

? Maintenance of systems

? Troubleshooting of OS and hardware problems

? Analyze and recommend hardware reconfiguration

? Support of advanced features, such as availability solutions, clustering, partitioned systems, or Active Directory

? Configure systems software

? Work with database administrators to ensure the OS (e.g. kernel, memory, CPU usages, etc.) and filesystems are configured optimally for database servers

? Work with database administrators to plan and implement any OS level modifications, library changes, DBMS changes, etc.

? Work with MicroStrategy team to plan and implement any OS level modifications, MicroStrategy8 software changes, etc.

? Participate in system discussions with users and team members, actively participating in the gathering of business requirements, and assisting in the design, development and maintenance of system and project documentation

? Participate on-call production support rotation


QUALIFICATIONS:
1-4 years of hands-on Windows experience supporting Windows NT/2000/2003 Server operating systems
 Proven experience of installation and maintenance of network computer systems hardware and software
 Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot file, application, and database servers
Experience with network backup and restore functions, stand-alone virus protection software, and data recovery tools
Demonstrated experience with Windows IIS, DNS and AD using Windows 2000 or Windows 2003
Experience with computer systems configuration to include an understanding of the integration of systems hardware, software, and networks
General knowledge of data communication networks and their protocols, to include practical debugging skills and understanding needed to diagnose, identify and correct network and operating system problems
Skill at clearly and concisely communicating detailed information, in writing and in person to individuals and groups
Microsoft SQL experiences a strong plus
MicroStrategy 8 experiences a strong plus
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or Microsoft Certified Professional or equivalent experience preferred
