XMPP System Developer
Implement and deploy Vonage's instant messaging infrastructure consisting of both customer facing and internal assets including jabber server integration and SIP server integration operating in a highly distributed computing environment. A significant portion of the position is designing, writing and/or maintaining various Unix/Linux user space programs, as well as, Perl and shell scripts.
- Strong knowledge of XMPP, SIMPLE and other IM-based specs
- Expert knowledge of C, C++ and/or Java
- Committer on an open-source IM client or server
- Expert network programming and multithreading skills
- Some scripting/programming skills in sh, tk/tcl/expect, Perl
- Some Database programming/administration, including generic SQL and ORACLE/MySQL specifically
- Excellent coding habits: unit testing, pathological logging statements in debug mode, automated builds and deployment
- Proven ability to work well a team and lead others
- Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated commitment to producing and maintaining meaningful and useful documentation
- Excellent customer service skills
