The Position

Basic Function:

 

Primary duties will be to develop shop drawings using AutoCAD for the overall CPI line of skylights and vertical wall panel, translucent polycarbonate daylighting, glass systems and ControLite Intelligent daylighting products for architectural submittal.

Must be proficient with AutoCAD and have the ability to read architectural and structural drawings. Other duties will include preparation of detailed bills of materials, fabrication drawings and details of aluminum skylight components.

 

Specific Duties:

 

? Design projects using AutoCAD and in-house programs.

? Advise architects, designers, CPI sales representatives, customers, and general contractors on more complex skylight and wall panel projects.

? Follow up on submittals.

? Coordinate designs with architectural and structural drawings.

? Study specifications, determine optimal product for requirements and properly apply this knowledge to the design.

? Communicate verbally and in writing with customers, representatives and internal departments. 

? Work within a team environment of management, sales, and manufacturing.

? Provide fair, friendly and consistent customer service.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications

? Proficient with the use of AutoCAD.

? 2 to 5 years experience as an AutoCAD designer in the architectural skylight, curtain wall, metal panel, structural steel detailer, glazed structures, ornamental steel or building envelopes industry.

? Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word and Email.

? Ability to read and understand both architectural and structural drawings.

? Must be able to work under time constraints.

? Good  math skills (Trigonometry).

? Basic understanding of field installation principles preferred.

? A minimum two years technical degree is preferred in architectural, construction or structural.

Compensation

The compensation package for the AutoCAD position will be designed in accordance with the background and accomplishments of the selected candidate.
