Structural/Mechanical Inspectors enforce the State Structural Safety and Mechanical Codes through inspections of all building types; communicate code requirements to contractors, the public, and local officials; and investigate cases of non-compliance. This position is located in Coquille, Oregon.
The Department:
The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services is charged with protecting workers and consumers, while supporting a positive climate for businesses in the state. The Department plays a leading role in the state by ensuring that workers have safe and healthy workplaces; that consumers receive fair treatment by regulated professional and business entities; that minorities, women, and small businesses have access to public contracting opportunities; that new construction in the state is safe, energy efficient, and barrier-free; and that Oregonians have access to quality health care and a fiscally responsible financial services industry.
The Division:
The Building Codes Division is responsible for adoption and enforcement of statewide building codes. Codes relate to the construction, reconstruction, alteration, and repair of buildings and other structures and the installation of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical devices and equipment. The division is responsible for examining, certifying, registering, and licensing individuals in 11 professions and issuing operating permits for three industries.
Qualifications:
o 2 years? phased construction experience, including framing, concrete, and mechanical and
o The following certifications from the State of Oregon Building Codes Division:
Prior to 10-01-05
o A-Level Structural Inspector Certification, B-Level Structural Inspector Certification, A-Level Mechanical Inspector Certification, B-Level Mechanical Inspector Certification
After 10-01-05
o Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC), International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Building Inspector Certification, International Code Council (ICC) Residential Building Inspector Certification, International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification, and International Code Council (ICC) Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification or
o Have submitted application(s) for the previously listed certification(s) to the Oregon Building Codes Division, and are eligible to test for the certification(s) within 90 days of hire
Preference may be given to individuals with B Level Plans Examiner Certification.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary $2,985 to $4,146/month, plus benefits.
