Development Manager - Low-rise, multi family home experience only

Primary Objective

Coordinate the acquisition, development and implementation of projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors: 

 

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities are not limited to exact job description.  Flexibility is expected and required.Investigate and assemble relevant  data for evaluating  prospective land acquisitions and/or new development opportunities.Coordinate due diligence and entitlement efforts for new development projects.Maintain the business plan and related project proforma  for both current and proposed development projects.Develop specific and overall project budgets and schedules connected to implementing projects.Prepare periodic management and/or investor progress reports.Lead efforts related to the determination and raising of equity and/or institutional financing for new acquisitions.Assist in the formulation and evaluation of deal structures for potential joint venture opportunities.Negotiate terms and conditions of contractual agreements connected to implementation of projects and services rendered by consultants.Manage and monitor the activities of consultants hired to perform specific project-related activities.

? Supervise staff engaged in related finance and development activities.Communicate with co-workers, management, business partners,  consultants,  and others in a courteous and professional manner.

 Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages subordinates in the Finance and Development department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company?s  policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred) from an accredited four year college or university plus a minimum or 5 years of related experience. Must have a real estate background.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret business, construction and legal documents, and government regulations. Must be capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from  managers, lenders, governmental authorities, consultants and business partners.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,  area,  and volume.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint software.

Ability to build and lead teams to accomplish common goals.
