Electrical Technician

Electrical Technician Description: • Determines components required to meet project objectives
? Considers time tables, components and layouts required and refers to electrical practices and procedures, engineering standards and investigates design alternatives.
? The incumbent conducts technical and laboratory investigations and field and laboratory tests of electrical and electronic componentry and systems.
? Reviews assignments received from engineering to determine test instrumentation and test equipment requirements.
? Assists Engineers with design development and construction of a variety of components and systems.
? Initiates bills of material for equipment, completes test work orders and follows completion.
? The incumbent works with Engineers to formulate outline of test objectives, procedures, materials and conditions required to meet test requirements and sets up, calibrates and operates testing equipment.
? Observes test progress, analyzes and records test data and compiles related test reports.
? This position trains others in use of lab equipment and test techniques and coordinates tests with affected technical facility and design groups.
? Works with suppliers to evaluate supplier testing and ensures agreement of component test requirements and procedures.
? The incumbent directs and confers with skilled trades employees to insure proper installation of testing equipment.




Requirements:
Requires 2 years experience of preparing complex detailed electrical drawings and less complex layouts and setting up and conducting laboratory and field electrical tests. Requires good verbal and written communications skills to initiate setting up and conducting tests and completing related data reporting.
