Job Description:
Located at one of our gypsum plants in Newark, NJ, the Environment/Health/Safety Manager is responsible for performing health, safety and environment functions within a continuous manufacturing facility. Involved in ensuring that established corporate and plant objectives, policies and goals are met, under safety and environmental guidelines, with minimal impact to the community. Provides necessary reports and analysis to plant and division management as required. Responsible for coordinating preparation and implementation of the annual safety and environmental action plans.
Specific Responsibilities:
? Assures that organizational safety, environmental and housekeeping objectives are met, while supporting quality and production objectives.
? Establishes and maintains effective work and communication relationships within departments, ensuring efficient day to day operational decisions can be made.
? Directs all environmental and safety programs related to the location. Assures activities are in compliance with applicable regulations, develops and implements training programs as needed. Acts as lead in coordinating corrective actions required to address safety and environmental problems.
? Serves as liaison with Federal, State and Local regulators. Completes, or oversees completion of, all required reports, certifications and re-certifications. Accompanies Division staff to represent the plant at regulatory hearings, legal actions and legislative meetings. Maintains permit file, completes applications or renewals as required.
? Reviews new construction, equipment, vendors and process improvements from environmental and safety compliance point-of-view.
? Supports community relations issues, with directions from Plant Manager and Division staff, and inquiries on environmental matters.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
Professional Safety or Environmental certification preferred
At least 5 years of professional experience as an EHS Manager in a manufacturing environment required
Related manufacturing experience with ability to spend 50% of time on production floor
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations
Demonstrated organizational skills with an attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with presentation experience
Strong PC skills are essential
