Estimator-Mechanical

Expanding general contractor specializing in water and wastewater treatment plants has immediate opening for an Entry Level Mechanical Estimator. 

 

Analyzes drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimate for projects. Applies knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes. Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists. Computes cost factors and prepares estimates for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness. Develops and establishes standard hour and related cost data. Consults with clients, vendors, engineers, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Perform portions of estimates for multi discipline projects including scope determinations, accurate MTO, minimal man-hour application.

 

Performs quantity take off for assigned disciplines.  Solicits subcontractor and/or vendors quotes and evaluates them for scope and qualification.  Corresponds with engineer or owner to clarify questions, obtain information or establish qualifications.  Organize and detail estimate. Prepare TAB sheets in understandable manner.  Assist in collection and analysis of man hour and cost information from projects for use as historical data.  Manage time effectively to insure timely preparation of complete estimate to supervision.  Familiar with all aspects and disciplines of the construction industry and keep updated with new procedure, materials, and equipment.  Evaluate and analyze proposed project, to develop alternate methods of construction to create competitive advantage.  Maintain computer data in accessible, accurate format.Knowledge of Microsoft Excel. 

 

Candidates must be experienced reading plans, accurate, detail oriented and ethical. Experience with various kinds of pipe and mechanical equipment like pumps, valves and process equipment desired. No relocation assistance available.
