Base Compensation: $35,000 - $45,000 per year

 

This handyman position is a full time maintenance and independent contractor position for The Saywitz Company, a national commercial real estate company headquartered in Newport Beach. While the company has been in business for 32 years, it expanded 5 years ago in developing a new multi-family and residential apartment division to acquire apartment properties and multi-family dwellings for its own portfolio.  The properties are acquired with the company?s own money and over the past 5 years they have acquired more than 30 properties.  These properties include duplexes on the oceanfront, to 60-unit complexes along the coastal areas of Orange County. The company is continuing to expand this division and is looking to acquire additional and larger properties going forward. Typically, the company will acquire an apartment building, vacate the property of the existing tenants and remodel the entire interior and exterior of the property and then look to re-rent the units.  This handyman position will be to assist in the onsite construction for these new properties and to provide ongoing maintenance on a daily basis. The job responsibilities include:

 

? Coordinate with the company?s construction manager for timeline and scheduling of work.

? Coordinate with other subtrades for construction projects.

? Coordinate with the company?s property manager and individual tenants for scheduling of ongoing maintenance items.

? Coordinate supplies and materials necessary for completion of a job.

? Maintenance items include electrical, carpentry, replacing light fixtures, repairs of garbage disposals, plugged toilets, minor plumbing, unclogging of drains, fence repairs, paint & touch up and other day to day maintenance responsibilities.

? Assist in the turnovers for move-outs of old tenants and make ready for new tenants.  These responsibilities would include cabinets, repair of plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, switches and plugs, light fixtures, ceiling fans, hardware, door locks, mirror wardrobe doors, shelving, base board.

 

 

 

The candidate must have specific previous experience in onsite maintenance, handyman or construction for residential properties. The candidate must be currently located in Orange County and must have solid transportation and tools.

 

Final salary determination will be based on qualifications and skill sets. Please include in the information provided a work history, salary history and listing of any contractor licenses or specific skill sets that would meet the job description.  This individual need not have a general contractor license as the company is already licensed however, specific licensing or subtrade experience would be beneficial.
