Mechanical Estimator

 

Job Purpose:

Position will develop cost estimates based on customers engineering drawings and specifications and assist Senior Estimator in overall bidding of projects. Will also review specifications and drawings; develop material takeoff; develop and manage subcontractor bid packages; develop equipment needs list; develop labor estimates; and attend job walks.

 

Duties:

? Review plans and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the project and conditions.

? Issue RFIs and compile information gathered to understand scope of project.

? Prepare quantity takeoff reports by counting, analyzing and summarizing information and entering data into computerized databases.

? Maintain the cost estimating database system

? Prepares and ensures the timely completion of all estimates assigned to the estimating department.  Ensures the technical accuracy of all cost estimates. 

? Maintains files of current estimates, unit price information, and supplier?s quotations for costs of construc­tion materials.

? Preparation of vendor and subcontractor bid packages and RFPs.  Contacts suppliers and vendors for current prices and delivery.

? Advises and collects information from other depart­ments on any items pertinent to the development of complete estimates.

? Provide cost consultation to clients, project managers, and engineers.  Prepare change order cost estimating for on-going projects.

? Prepare or review all cost estimates for accura­cy, completeness and format.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

- 2+ years plumbing background required.
- Strong computer skills including Excel

- Experience with Quickpen estimating software a plus
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Extremely strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be a team player.
