Owner's Representative - Commercial Construction Project Specialist

A well established, commerical real estate development firm is expanding their Senior Project Management team in the headquarters location in Texas.  The Owner's Representative will report directly to Executive Management and will be responsible for oversight of multi-million dollar commercial construction projects from initial bidding process to final completion.  This Representative will be the primary  interface with all outside contractors in setting up the bid process, handling negotiations and approval of bids.  Frequent job site follow up will be necessary in overseeing work in progress and job quality.  Project budget responsibilities will include monitoring job costs (materials, labor & services) and keeping costs within the guidelines.  Tracking the project schedule and maintaining focus on completion deadlines is a key task.  The major objective for the Owner's Representative will be to monitor high dollar projects and keep costs in line, negotiate with contractors and service providers to insure accurate and top quality work & materials and to bring projects to completion, "on time and on budget". 

 

A Degree in Construction Science or related discipline and 10+ years of Commercial Construction, Senior Project Management or Owner's Representative experience are required.  Experience with 100+ million dollar, commercial projects is ideal - commercial buildings, retail centers and large medical facilities. 

Strong understanding and experience negotiating project bids, contract negotiations and project budget & project schedule oversight are necessary. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing skills, are required.  Strong project software skills and knowledge, MS Word and Excel are needed.  The ability to work with executives, project professionals, contractors & vendors, accounting staff and construction field staff must be demonstrated in previous work experience.  Demonstrated success in making critical decisions, working independently and strong self confidence - a person who can "make things happen and get things done"  - that's how the senior manager describes the ideal candidate!
