James B. Pirtle Construction Co., Inc. is currently seeking a qualified Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager to join our team. Current position requires working on a job site in Homestead, Florida.

 

James B. Pirtle Construction is a $250 million plus South Florida based General Contractor that specializes in the construction of public facilities including schools, libraries, police & fire stations, parks, and other municipal projects.  The corporate office of Pirtle is located in Fort Lauderdale with branch offices in Miami and Palm Beach.

 

Pirtle specializes in negotiated projects utilizing the Construction Management @ Risk and Design Build delivery systems.  Projects are located throughout South Florida and typically range in size from 5 to 75 million dollars.

Job Description

 

The Construction Project Engineer works directly with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Project Estimator throughout the duration of the project. As a construction administrator, the Project Engineer will document all aspects of the work progress and manage the flow of information to all parties involved. Monitor the site daily and assist with coordination of construction activities and site safety. Specific duties include but are not limited to assisting with the final development of the various bid packages and the project baseline construction schedule. Establish, maintain, conduct, and police detailed procedures for the submittal, review, coordination, approval, and distribution of shop drawings. Establish and maintain all project engineering files relating to subcontract and bid package records, meeting minutes, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, RFI's, and as-built documents. Review all vendor schedule of values and prepare the general schedule of values as coordinated with the Project Manager. Manage the periodic requisition procedure for review, submittal, and payment. Determine appropriateness and prepare subcontractor change orders for final approval by the Project Manager.

 

Requirements:

A college degree in building construction management, or related field and a minimum of 3 years experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager. Must be competent in the use of computers as well as construction specific scheduling and management software.
