Safety Inspector/Trainer – San Diego

SUMMARY Trains personnel and inspects equipment, and working conditions in industrial and construction sites at company locations to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

Supervises, and coordinates training programs for company employees and customers at  company locations which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.

 

Conducts or coordinates safety and scaffold training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices at company locations.

 

Ability to teach and train personnel in the safe erecting and dismantling of scaffolds according to the latest OSHA regulations and company procedures.

 

Tours job sites and company facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

 

Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, hard hats, gloves, personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing.

 

Inspects or tours organization facilities and job sites to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.

 

Participates in the investigation of accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and to minimize recurrence.  Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.

 

Must be able to travel extensively through the Western U.S. to perform training and inspections.

 

Inspects specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.

 

Tests working areas for noise toxic, and other hazards when required.

 

Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.

 

Demonstrates use of safety equipment.

 

Assists the Corporate Safety Manager on any request he may have.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma with two years related experience.  Background in construction and scaffolds with certificates for scaffold training and safety.
