JOB SUMMARY

Designer shall work in a team environment to develop sheet metal shop drawings meeting McKenney?s Drafting Standards and fully coordinated with the architectural & structural elements of the building and the other building trades (sprinkler, plumbing, piping, etc.). 





DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



? Utilize McKenney?s drafting standards to create sheet metal shop drawings.

? Coordinate all ductwork with the architectural and structural elements of the building.

? Produce drawings indicating all ductwork and mechanical equipment clearly labeled and dimensioned.

? Create schematics and equipment schedules.

? Coordinate ductwork and mechanical equipment with sprinkler piping, plumbing, mechanical piping and other trades to avoid installation conflicts in the field.

? Effectively communicate with project managers, project engineers and field foremen during the drafting and construction process.

? Learn in-house duct drafting program to support shop drawing production and to generate sheet metal shop fabrication sheets.

? Work with project manager and field foreman to create As-Built drawings for projects.

? Responsible for producing all documents in a timely matter based on job requirements to meet the commitments to our customers, both internal and external.

QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED

? Working Knowledge of AutoCAD 2004 or higher and 3-D drafting packages.

? Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction documents.

? 1-3 years experience in drafting or drafting certificate

? Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

? Strong written and verbal communication skills.

? Commitment to detail and deadlines.

? Must have a professional appearance.

? Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals

? Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

? Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.

? Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

? High school diploma or GED

PREFERRED

? Experience with sheet metal drafting or sheet metal installation.

? Ability to size low pressure ductwork, select air distribution and similar activities.

? 2-year Associates Degree in drafting or similar area.  Ability to visualize three dimensional layouts from two dimensional drawings.
