Surveillance Inspector

Job Requirements:
Combination of education, training, and experience to gain knowledge, skills, and abilities generally equivalent to those possessed by a high school graduate. Two or more years of experience in underground civil construction. Familiarity with Edisons underground construction practices, specifications, and requirements. This includes familiarity with appropriate sections of the Distribution Design Standards (DDS) Manual, Underground Structures (UGS) Manual, GO95, GO128, Distribution Underground Construction Standards (DUG) Manual, Accident Prevention Manual, and related industry standards. The successful candidate will also have the ability to read and understand work order drawings, surveys, utility substructure maps. Ability to manage multiple tasks with conflicting schedules and limited time. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to give functional direction to contractors and support personnel and to protect confidential and/or sensitive information. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with customers, and region personnel including planning, operations, field construction and management. Ability to correctly draw as-built maps. A valid CA Driver License is required.

 

Preferences:
Knowledge of Civil Engineering, land surveying and mapping practices and procedures. Knowledge of SCE Unit of Property Accounting policies and practices. Familiarity with Lotus Notes, ATS LAN, MS Word, MS Project and MS Excel.

 

Typical Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Underground Construction Supervisor for tract inspection and supports the Ventura and Thousand Oaks Districts. The successful candidate will perform on-site inspections of new residential tract substructure installation. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying compliance with Edison standards, applicable construction requirements and industry standards. He/She will also measure and record the location of Edison facilities, account for deviations, create as-built drawings, and communicate status of construction and inspection activities as required. This position is also responsible for performing other underground inspection activities, as required.
