1st Vice President, Collateral Operations
The department is responsible for the timely pooling of Bond loans. Wiring of Mortgage Insurance Premium and Funding Fee for FHA and VA loans. Also responsible for monitoring trades to ensure contractual obligations are met.
The 1st Vice President, Collateral Operations manages multiple departments within Secondary Marketing Operations. Primary responsibilities include:
- Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance standards. Advises management of the status of various assigned projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget.
- Establishes staffing levels, interviews prospective applicants, makes hiring recommendations and decisions, and monitors the training, coaching and motivation of the staff. Makes pay, promotional and termination recommendations and decisions and documents same. Regularly evaluates subordinates performance and determines development plans for future growth in the organization. - Prepares and conducts performance appraisals for immediate subordinates and oversees the implementation of the appraisals for the remainder of the organization.
- Ensures updates and changes in policies and procedures are communicated to the staff.
- Maintain employee job satisfaction by successfully mediating employee differences and providing a safe work environment.
- Oversees and ensures staff compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA and other investor standards regarding the certification of collateral.
- Remains current on all agency, state and federal regulations as well as company policies and procedures and ensures distribution and compliance by staff.
- Participates in systems development, enhancements, testing and training of staff.
- Compiles and reviews data and reports as required to ensure that the work volume and staffing assignments are meeting the goals and standards set by management.
- Participates in and makes recommendations regarding systems development, enhancements, testing and the training of the staff.
- Monitors trade activity to ensure that all contractual thresholds are met.
- Oversees all projects assigned to the organizational unit.
- Acts as an advisor to subordinate managers and supervisors to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
- Directly participates in establishing and administering many centralized functional projects.
- Works with management to enhance department performance.
- Reviews the daily workflow of the organization to ensure timeliness is met. Communicates with management to keep them informed of work flow issues or problems that have been encountered and endorses recommendations for problem resolutions received from subordinates or presents other avenues for consideration and implementation.
- Specific duties will vary depending on the assigned unit.
A successful candidate will have:
- 7+ years experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent required and 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience.
- Thorough knowledge of branch originations.
- Highly proficient in the use of PC and business software.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks, be organized and able to continually prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with people who have varying levels of understanding of the work assigned and have the ability to coach, motivate, train, evaluate, and counsel staff.
- Extensive knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA and other investor requirements relative to certification and custodial standards.
- Extensive knowledge of investor requirements and guidelines.
- Excellent comprehension, listening, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to delegate assignments and systematically follow up for review and/or completion dependent upon complexity.
- Ability to identify problems and develop and implement resolutions to such.
- Strong accounting knowledge relative to the budgeting of expenses in the management of a department.
- Ability to calculate, interpret, and understand complex mortgage transactions.
- Excellent management capabilities.
