AquaLogic Sr. Business Consultant, BID Services

BEA Business Interaction Division (BID) - Consulting Services (Americas) seeks bright, business-driven people with the passion and drive to deploy a technology that can change a business. Experience with enterprise software engineering/consulting, databases and web technology solutions is highly regarded. The ability to interview customers, provide training to developers/administrators and generally evangelize the BEA Aqualogic User Interaction Application Suite (ALUI) (formerly Plumtree Corporate Portal) is prerequisite for this position. Willingness to travel extensively together with a strong academic record at a competitive university or a history of successfully deploying enterprise systems within an account is also required. Previous experience in management consulting is considered a significant advantage. Individual must have a consistent and progressive track record in software development.


Major Responsibilities

* Assist customers with full life-cycle Enterprise Web deployment including BEA Aqualogic User Interaction Applications Suite (ALUI) (formerly Plumtree corporate portal, collaboration, application integration, and content management technologies).

* Gather customer requirements and align customer goals with portal technology throughout deployment.

* Install, configure, and deploy BEA Aqualogic User Interaction Application (ALUI) (formerly Plumtree Corporate Portal) software, on both Solaris and Windows operating systems, at client sites.

* Develop extensible components (portlet web services and crawler web services) for the BEA ALUI applications (formerly Plumtree Corporate Portal) to integrate customers' enterprise software applications and custom software applications.

* Develop custom applications on the BEA ALUI (formerly Plumtree Corporate Portal) platform using BEA Aqualogic APIs.

* Perform upgrades of BEA Aqualogic portal software at customer sites as new versions are released.

* Assist customers in the design of their portal security strategy (authentication, authorization, and auditing) and develop custom integration with LDAP and Single Sign-On products to meet customers' security requirements.

* Work effectively with portal deployment teams that may include customer, system integrator, and BEA - Business Interaction Division or Aqualogic contributors.

* Maintain expertise in BEA ALUI (formerly Plumtree Corporate Portal) deployment methodology, approach, architecture, and extensibility components.

* Contribute to the BEA - BID Consulting Services knowledge base through writing implementation methodology tools, customer deployment reports, and contributing expertise to the development of professional services offerings.

* Work independently at customer sites, or as part of a BEA - BID Consulting Services implementation team, as required.

* Prepare scope for onsite customer engagements and may coordinate the efforts of other consultants assigned to an onsite team.

* Provide on-site customer training on BEA Aqualogic User Interaction products.

* Provide public training on BEA Systems products in augmentation of the training department.

* Ensure product and customer issues are communicated appropriately.

* 100% travel required.



Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS


* 2-4 years minimum experience in implementation of vendor software-based solutions at customer sites as a consultant or vendor representative.

* Solid hands-on experience in the following technologies:


o Software installation and configuration expertise on multiple hardware platforms: Windows 2000 and UNIX (Solaris).

o Programming experience in the following languages: Java, JSP, ASP, Visual Basic, C#, .NET.

o Experience with BEA WebLogic or IBM Websphere Application Servers.

o Knowledgeable of relational databases (Oracle and SQL).

o LDAP and Security (SSO preferred). (OBLIX is a plus, Netegrity, etc.)

o Network skills (architecting the solution). Firewall and hardware configuration.


* Strong customer interaction, organizational and time-management skills required.

* Ability to work independently as the only consultant at a customer site, or as a member of a team.
* Strong customer-facing consulting background, including working with customers towards successful software deployments.

* Prefer prior experience deploying enterprise software applications such as Plumtree, SAP, PeopleSoft, Siebel, Documentum, SSO Technologies such as Netegrity or Oblix, Hummingbird, Lawson, Content Management Technologies (IWOV, Stellant, CMS), IM Tools.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong documentation skills.

* Strong customer interaction skills.
Minimum Education

Most employees have Bachelor Degrees in Computer Science, but individuals are hired with BA/BS degrees in a variety of academic fields. If applicants do not have a technical or engineering degree, then applicants must demonstrate a technical aptitude in their work experience (i.e. technical consultation at a systems integrator, working w/ web technologies, etc).
