Assistant Vice President - Payroll Services

HR XCEL is looking for an Assistant VP, Payroll Services who can take the lead in our service bureau environment.  This individual would be responsible for facilitating compliance, standardization, automation, process improvements, and best practices with corporate-wide payroll processing.  Subject matter expert regarding concepts and procedures within the payroll field, relying heavily on experience and judgment to accomplish goals.  Supervise the payroll department.  An exceptional degree of creativity and latitude are required. 

 

Responsibilities:Subject matter expert on taxable wages, taxes, garnishments, visa, relocation, education reimbursement, bonus/incentive, year-end adjustments and other miscellaneous payments, as well as Federal and State wage and hour laws governing payroll.Preparation of communications to our clients / clients employees as well as payroll staff as appropriate.Assist in development of audit controls used by the Payroll department. Prepare annual reports as needed for any/all clients as requested. Annually review payroll policies/procedures/forms with Clients/Payroll Manager to ensure proper application ? creating or modifying as appropriate. Monitor, test and understand all Payroll related HRMS/HRIS enhancements, including but not limited to Millennium and/or ADP upgrades, updates, fixes, patches and approved customizations. Direct client payrolls to ensure accuracy and compliance with the established protocols as well as IRS, SSA requirements.  This will include the maintenance of payroll data as well as the execution of payroll data as well as the execution of payroll business process.Participate in department or functional needs analysis, as required. Stay abreast of laws and regulations through professional reading, electronic professional websites and internal counsel.  Keeps Human Resource team well-informed.  Work closely with HR teams to meet initiatives and goals.

 

Experience:

 15 years Payroll experience Minimum 5 years of Service Bureau environment Bachelor?s degree Multi-state tax experience Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding Exhibits strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with at least 3 different automated Payroll systems (i.e. ADP, Ceridian, Millennium)
