Assoc Director - Energy Litigation & Regulation

Job Description:
Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: NCI) is a specialized leading independent consulting firm providing litigation, financial, restructuring, energy, healthcare and operational consulting services to government agencies, legal counsel and large companies facing the challenges of uncertainty, risk, distress and significant change.

Navigant Consulting has a need for an Associate Director for our Litigation and Regulatory division within our Energy practice.

LOCATION: Chicago, Houston, or Washington, D.C. (preferred locations, but negotiable)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Recognized subject matter expert on regulatory/ratemaking issues;
- Energy litigation project experience a plus;
- Manage small to medium sized client assignments in the areas of utility pricing and ratemaking, computation of cost of service and revenue requirements for utilities, analysis of regulatory issues and circumstances, and research on energy-related industry trends and regulatory precedents;
- Actively participate in consulting management team's efforts to produce quality deliverables in a timely manner, to develop proposals and positions on a wide variety of topics of potential interest to clients, and to support the general marketing requirements of the practice;
- To provide expert testimony, as appropriate in client assignments;
- To support the development of new regulatory support products and services related to the energy industry;
- Deliver high quality consulting services;
- Other responsibilities include: recruiting, mentoring current staff, developing new consulting services, quality assurance on projects; and
- Willingness to travel between 40%-50%.

QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:
- 10+ years of experience in the regulated electric utility industry;
- 5+ years of consulting experience, with an increasing level of responsibility for business development;
- Proven contacts and references from within the investor-owned utility industry;
- Ability to eventually generate between $0.5 - 1.0 million in incremental project fees;
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, accounting, economics, or mathematics and statistics. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (sample work products will be requested);
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with client staff and consulting project teams in a variety of situations (face-to-face, telephone, e-mail);
- In-depth familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software;
- Ability to understand and interpret utility tariffs and rate schedules; and
- Conversant regarding current issues of the energy industry in North America.
