JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Benefits Analyst (BA) is the subject matter expert the clients' ongoing processes. This role ensures delivering timely and accurate information to each and every participant. The BA champions process improvements by identifying the root causes of issues, process delays, and quality problems and recommends solutions. The BA works with the client, 3rd Parties, Shared Services, Customer Service and the Implementation Delivery Group to resolve participant and plan administration issues. The BA is often called upon to execute manual processes (requiring plan knowledge and analysis), but always with a focus to streamline, automate and/or standardize the process. The BA role is highly developmental with a broad focus on operations and plan knowledge. 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process Improvement
Analyzes all ongoing business processes, cost, delivery and quality metrics to identify process improvement opportunities;
Identifies root causes of delivery issues (e.g., system edits, manual processes, patterns in work flows, repeat calls etc.)
Recommends process improvements and identifies opportunities to define/follow standard operating procedures.
Builds business case to drive priorities on the team (e.g., by monitoring frequency of delivery issues or manual processes and the impact on cost, quality, participant satisfaction, etc..)
Supports Benefits Delivery Manager in managing costs through process improvements above and by performing financial management activities.
Issue resolution and manual Processing
Resolves participant issues escalated from Customer Service (via work flows) and Daily Processing Shared Service (DPSS)
Collaborates with internal/external 3rd parties and client contacts to resolve delivery issues
Researches plan requirements/rules to resolve administrative questions and issues
Performs participant data research and correction (e.g., beneficiary research, missing participant research)
Conducts participant administrative advocacy (e.g. Health & Welfare BAs may research carrier contracts to prove eligibility)
Completes manual calculations (if any) (Defined Benefits)
Completes manual processes resulting from system edits
Data file processing and Job Scheduling/Monitoring
Executes in bound and out bound file processing (E.g., HR Data, Payroll, Pension Payroll, Eligibility Reporting etc.)
Resolves data edits
Completes reconciliations/balancing
Performs processing verifications
Conducts participant abend monitoring in systems
System updates and year end processing & reporting
Reporting (Government, Plan, Client, Internal Team etc.)
Data Extracts (Actuarial, Health Management)
System Development Life cycle (SDLC) Activities
Collaborates with Implementation Delivery Group (IDG) on tailoring and maintaining ongoing processing documentation.
Performs acceptance testing of ongoing processes (at live date and as changes are made)
Participates in training efforts for Customer Service Associates, Shared Services, Global Delivery Teams (e.g. BPO), and for new associates joining team.
Records Change Orders for defects and other system changes

Education:

BA/BS Degree. Preferred degrees include Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, and Math.
