Business Warehouse Data Architect

This position normally reports to the Project Manager ? Business Warehouse (BW), and is responsible for the overall data design of a SAP Business Warehouse project. This includes the design of the BW InfoProviders (BasicCubes, MultiCubes, RemoteCubes, and Aggregates), BW ODS Objects, BW Datamarts, Logical Models, BW Process Models, and BW Enterprise Models. The Business Warehouse Data Architect role in a BW project is the link between the end user?s business requirements and the data architecture solution that will satisfy these requirements. Further, this position must understand the requirements for the delivery of the data via the user application(s) and the impact of the data model on the user experience. All other activities in the a BW project are contingent upon the data design being sound and flexible enough to satisfy evolving business requirements.
This position is responsible for capturing the business requirements for a BW project including:
? Planning the business requirements gathering sessions and process,
? Coordinating all business requirements gathering efforts with the BW Project Manager,
? Facilitating the business requirements gathering sessions,
? Capturing the information and producing the deliverables from the business requirements gathering sessions,
? Understanding and documenting business definitions of data,
? Developing the ERM, MDM, and translate to the Star Schema,
? Ensuring integration of data from both SAP and non-SAP sources, and
? Fielding questions concerning the data content, definition and structure.
This position also addresses other critical data design issues such as:
? Granularity of data and the potential for multiple levels of granularity,
? Use of degenerate dimensions,
? InfoCube partitioning,
? Need for aggregation at multiple levels,
? Need for storing derived BW data,
? Ensuring overall integrity of all BW Models,
? Providing Data Administration development data sources, and data objects standards and naming for business requirements analysis and BW enterprise modeling,Providing input, guidance and recommendations of data retention models as they will impact the overall data model and system performance,
? Provide strategic planning for data management, and
? Impact analysis of data change and growth requirements.
This position is responsible for the overall data design of the BW project. This includes the design of the:
? BW InfoProviders (Basic Cubes, Multi-cubes, Remote cubes, and Aggregates),
? BW ODS Objects,
? BW Datamarts,
? Logical Models,
? BW Process Models,
? BW Enterprise Models, and
? Organize data by InfoArea Qualified candidates must have BW project implementation experience. At least five years of broad and deep SAP BW experience is required, as is a thorough understanding of information structures and data sources systems in SAP R/3. Additionally, an understanding of data structures and flows from non-SAP systems is important.

? An understanding of the integration points of the data (e.g., customer number, invoice number),
? Technical competency in data modeling, data administration of RDBMS,
? Multi-lingual skills, if an international implementation,
? Working knowledge of the BW and R/3 application(s), and
? Experience with Data Modeling application software (i.e., ERWIN, Oracle Designer, S-Designer, etc.).
A four-year degree in computer science, engineering, math, or similar technical degree, or equivalent in education, and experience, combined with computer science training, experience, is required. Graduate technical and/or business training is desired.
