HEALTH & WELFARE OR QUALIFIED PLANS CONSULTING SENIOR MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY

Grant Thornton's Compensation & Benefits Consulting (CBC) group draws upon the resources of the best and brightest professionals in the industry. This specialty line serves as the technical support center for federal, state and local, and international tax advice for our tax professionals and clients. Our tax specialists are dedicated to delivering value-added, client-focused tax services that shed light on all of our clients' human resource business needs.

Grant Thornton LLP is seeking a Health & Welfare or a Qualified Plans Senior Manager for our CBC practice in San Francisco. This Senior Manager will focus on assisting our tax professionals and clients with complex tax issues regarding health and welfare consulting and / or qualified plan consulting (as appropriate), including those arising from recent legislation and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
-Address, research, and consult on complex technical issues specific to health and welfare consulting and / or qualified plan consulting and prepare related written communications.
-Provide timely and creative responses to technical inquiries from operating offices.
-Participate in the firm's federal tax think tank, which is responsible for identifying and developing value-added tax strategies and solutions.
-Consult, work with, and service clients by making recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client.
-Facilitate and conduct firm-wide training and communications relating to health and welfare consulting and / or qualified plan consulting matters.
-Monitor technical developments and write articles for publication in the firm's "Hot Topics" newsletter.
-Provide thought leadership in the business and tax community.
-Work closely with partners, managers, and staff on an integrated team approach to client service and new business development.
-Manage, coach, and motivate staff to achieve goals for performance and professional development.
-Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

Job Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in applicable subject matter. Advanced degree and / or professional certifications preferred.
-Minimum of ten years of experience in applicable field.
-Preference for public accounting, major consulting firm, or law firm experience.
-Superior analytical, technical, and tax accounting skills.
-Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
-Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
-Outstanding leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
-Computer expertise including knowledge of applicable software and technology.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed with modest travel required.
