Chief Technologist

Key Role: Maintain responsibility for staying abreast of leading-edge technology developments that pertain to data and information management applications.?Help establish enterprise technology roadmaps and make technology vendor selections.?Review or conduct technical trade studies. Serve as a technical liaison to other organizations, commercial IT vendors, and academia.?Act as a technology advisor to executive-level management.?Perform occasional hands-on implementation work with cutting-edge data management technology to stay in touch with technology developments and to serve as a catalyst for successfully introducing these new technologies into the organization.



Functional/Industry Knowledge:


-15+ years of experience with related work


-Experience as a published author or a frequent presenter at major conferences and symposia


-Experience as an accomplished and productive hands-on developer in one or more advanced technology fields


-Knowledge of specialized, cutting-edge information science concepts and technologies


-Knowledge of a large number and variety of IT product categories and leading product vendors


-Knowledge of the characteristics and uses of numerous more advanced and exotic technologies, including the Semantic Web, taxonomies and ontologies, the Resource Description Framework, the Web Ontology Language, topic maps, natural language processing technologies, data mining, advanced search and retrieval technologies, artificial intelligence, automated inference systems, fuzzy logic, and neural networks


-Ability to synthesize and communicate practical visions to utilize advanced technology to solve real-world business problems


-Possession of a strong academic background and connections

Education/Certifications or equivalent required:
MA or MS degree in CS, MIS, or a related field required
