AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking a permanent full time civil engineering

Technician and a permanent full time survey technician. 

Excellent career opportunity for responsible person with an AS in Drafting Technology

and/or an AS in Civil Engineering Technology. 

AutoCad knowledge and field survey experience is a plus. 

Good written and oral communications skills are important.

AKS ENGINEERING & FORESTRY, LLC (AKS) is a consulting firm

specializing in engineering, surveying, planning, and forestry. Our staff is

licensed to perform surveying and engineering work in  both Oregon and

Washington and engineering services in Alaska. AKS has a broad list of

clients, including land developers, city municipalities, timberland owners,

Job functions-Working with the project engineer or project surveyor, the following

tasks will be assigned:

1. AutoCad/LDD drafting including setting up sheets, importing points, line

  work/drafting, generating contours and  profiles, performing volume calculations,

  uploading and downloading points, subdivision plat preparation, etc.

2. Perform street and utility design per county/city standards and conditions of approval, maintaining good

communication with the planning/engineering staff of the jurisdiction to minimize future changes and

 misunderstandings.

3. Survey/utility research.

4. Complete projects and special assignments as requested.

5. Work on survey crew learning the way AKS performs field work for both

  construction staking and site map/topography surveys.

6. Learns/studies engineering/survey profession to increase knowledge and prepare for

  EIT/PE and LSIT/LS exams.

7. Do what needs to be done.

 

Skills and Abilities Required:

1. AS in Civil Engineering Technology and/or an AS in Drafting Technology.

2. Various civil engineering and surveying technical skills required.

3. Good written and oral communication skills including letter and report writing

  are helpful.

4. Ability to work quickly, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

5. In general, takes personal responsibility for completing quality work within

  Budgets and timelines.

 

Working Conditions:

1. Civil engineering technician-Primarily office work with some field time as

 necessary.

2. Survey technician-Office or field work or mixture, as necessary.

3. Occasional overtime.

4. Occasional out of town/overnight work when needed.

5. Drive to and from worksites-primarily in AKS provided vehicle.

6. Maintain good communication with other coworkers and clients.
