Consultant (Life Insurance and Financial Services)

The Tillinghast business of Towers Perrin provides global actuarial and management consulting to insurance and financial services companies and advises other companies on risk financing and self-insurance. We help clients with a broad range of business issues, including those related to mergers, acquisitions and restructuring; financial and regulatory reporting; risk, capital and value management; products, markets and distribution; and financial modeling software solutions.

Job Description:

The Life/Financial Services division of Tillinghast is currently seeking candidates for a Consultant position. Within a multi-disciplinary team you will impact a broad range of financial strategies for leading companies in insurance, banking and investment management industries with a special emphasis on TAS/MoSes.

Your focus will be to assist clients with the implementation and/or other consulting needs of TAS, MoSes or related actuarial software applications. However, you will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of other projects including some or all of the following: assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions by building financial models, setting assumptions and valuing synergies, working in our financial management practice on US GAAP accounting, embedded value, risk-based capital measures and other financial reporting, developing and pricing both life insurance and annuity products, and/or assisting our distribution practice in valuing and optimizing sales performance.

Responsibilities include:


Working with a team of experts from both actuarial and management consulting backgrounds on client engagements to solve client problems
Serving as the project manager on client
Developing new business including: creating opportunities to discuss new business opportunities both through individual selling efforts and providing support to team sales efforts; using client relationships to identify client needs (explicit/implicit) for new/additional sales; broadening potential client?s understanding of firm?s capabilities; and formulating proposals demonstrating how the firm will address problems/issues identified
Making a valued contribution to the intellectual capital development of the firm

Requirements:


Successful completion FSA designation. An ASA moving towards FSA (1-2 exams remaining) would also be considered
5+ years work experience in a life insurance company, financial services organization or consulting firm
Financial modeling expertise using Tillinghast Actuarial Software TM and MoSes TM
Experience in at least one other core service area (analysis/management, reinsurance, risk management embedded value, distribution, Asset Liability Management (ALM),or Customer Value management (CVM) is preferred
Solid understanding of how the life insurance industry operations (including product knowledge, regulatory requirements, accounting systems, etc.)
Proven experience building and maintaining client relationships (internal or external)
Project management experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to think ?outside the box? and encourage new ideas and solutions
Ability to travel if required
