Conversion Data Analyst

Description:
A Data Analyst (DA) is responsible for executing the data conversion model for a particular client with guidance and support from the Data Conversion Manager and Data Design Managers. Based on specifications provided by the Data Conversion Manager, the Data Analyst analyzes and summarizes the client's data; translates the data into the correct format and runs edits on this data; and loads this data to our internal system through batch processes. The DA is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data as it moves through the model by testing and documenting each step in the process.

The DA will carry out the responsibilities of the role using Informatica PowerCenter 7.1, Quest Central and Cognos Impromptu, and JCL. Informatica is used to create "Mappings" for importing client data and translating it into data elements for our benefits administration system, as well as editing and consolidating client data. Quest and Cognos are used for reporting, data profiling, and quality assurance. JCL is used on the Mainframe to load the final data to the benefits administration system.

In order to provide high quality results, the DA must be knowledgeable of both the client environment and plan provisions.

The Data Analyst responsibilities include:
--Work with Data Design Manager to attain a full understanding of the data flow design;
--Communicate with Data Conversion Manager on updates to Data Requirements and Data Inventory;
--Verify the proper implementation of any requirements or inventory changes within the process;
--Develop and execute testing strategy to maintain data integrity throughout the process and reconcile that data is correctly loaded to TBA system;
--Create custom mappings in Informatica to import client data;
--Receive and analyze client data files; Create ad hoc reports for client data analysis;
--Compare profiling and edit reports to data specifications for inconsistencies in data;
--Use pre-developed mappings to move the client data through the CDAT conversion process;
--Enter and maintain mapping rules into various 'wizards' to map data to TBA values;
--Prepare Data Analysis Reports for client review;
--Work with Data Conversion Manager to receive feedback from client team on test data loads, and then modify requirements / system if necessary;
--Modify base INFA700, Load-N-Go, Drip, and BFLOAD jobs for each client; debug the job; then run these jobs to load data to TBA;
--Perform fully automated or small scale manual data cleansing;
--Manage deliverables of client and client team cleanup required for final processing;
--Develop training material and documentation for transition to ongoing team;
--Provide transitional support to the ongoing team for approximately 90-120 days after live date;
--Offer input to Data Design Manager on ways to increase efficiency throughout the data conversion process

Qualifications:
Desire 2-4 years experience including:
--general understanding of relational databases
--SQL and MS Excel; MS Access experience preferred
--Data Extraction, Transformation & Loading (ETL) experience valuable, but not required
