IDEA's Fairfax Branch is seeking an experienced Data Quality Specialist to ensure that data loaded into the data warehouse is accurate, identifies potential data errors, and drives them to resolution.  On the EHRI project, the DQS will participate in development and testing as well as operations.

 

In development and test, the DQS will ensure that the data is loaded, that the data is complete and accurate, and that it reflects the client?s intended usage.  To do so, the DQS will need to understand the client?s business processes, the requirements, and the data model, and understand and validate the business rules contained in the ?edits and audits? of the ETL process and the data itself.  The DQS? end objective is to validate that the project team has generated accurate and complete data that meets the client?s needs. One of the important objectives of the DQS is to recommend ways that the ETL process can be improved (adding new edit and audit rules, etc.) and that raise the overall quality of the warehouse over time.

 

During operations, the DQS will monitor the data quality of the periodic loads to ensure that all the intended data does in fact get loaded into the data warehouse.  The Data Quality Specialist also performs periodic data quality audits to ensure that data within the data warehouse is consistent across data sets.  These analyses will often occur when an end-user performs an analysis and obtains unexpected results that may be due to some data quality problem in the data warehouse.  The DQS will report the results of the analysis both to the end-users and to the source system administrators so that the data quality problems can be remedied in the source system.Required Elements:SQL & PL/SQL (Oracle): excellent backend skills, capable of writing sophisticated queries and stored proceduresData warehouse: familiarity with concepts, ability to navigate, etc. Data quality: complete familiarity with data model, data validation, etc. QA/Testing: expert knowledge of quality processes, ability to recommend and implement improvements to processes and product.Ability to interact with client personnel, develop positive working relationships.Team-orientedSelf-starter, will be the lead and only DQS on the project, needs to develop and execute DQ plan
