Director New Media Research

Reporting directly to the President, the Director of New Media Research will be knowledgeable about newspaper's commercial internet sites and will assist existing and new clients to leverage their brand equity as the key advertising source in the market place.  In particular, the marketplace needs advice on:

 

? How newspapers and magazines can leverage their brand strengths to play a significant role in the Internet space?  Can adjacent web sites minimize overall erosion in market share for traditional print products?

? How client groups can develop synergy between their traditional approach to their marketplace and their use of the Internet and Website to meet their corporate objectives.

? How can clients make money on these sites?

? How can these sites be more profitable and a more effective tool in helping organizations meet their revenue goals in the future?

? How can clients utilize their websites without cannibalizing their existing channel of distribution?

 

The Director of New Media Research will be abreast of these issues, network with industry professionals, develop new business, write proposals designed to solve client?s new media problems, negotiate research and consulting contracts, and coordinate appropriate research activities that will solve client problems.

 Position Background

 

Our  client is the leader in New Media/Internet research. They have a national reputation and currently provide New Media research projects to over 75 clients nationally. The practice has tremendous potential for growth and has a huge upside potential to be expanded into areas other than traditional media clients.

 RESPONSIBILITIES The Research Director will ??

 

? Understand client?s unique needs and establish and identify the key information that is needed to meet those needs.

? Develop research instruments that will gather the appropriate information.

? Supervise field work, data processing, and information compellation to insure completion of the research to high standards.

? Complete the necessary analysis, report writing, and presentation to meet the client?s research objectives.

? Be the primary interface with the client. At times working independently, but on some occasions will lead other team members in the successful completion of a research project.

? Build an ongoing practice by consistently delivering high quality, high value results to clients so that repeat business, networking, and references from satisfied clients will ensure that the practice grows in size and profitability.

? Serve on a national stage as an expert to the industry.

? Develop new clients and solutions to new industries.

 

 EDUCATION

 

The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree such as MBA, M.A. or Ph.D. - will consider candidates with advanced experience and a B.A. degree.

 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

 

The ideal candidate will possess??

? Work experience and knowledge of the Internet as a marketing tool and effective way to reach readers and customers.

? An understanding of how to develop measurements to help a client understand the effectiveness of their website in meeting their organizations business objectives.

? Intuitive understanding of statistics and advanced research methodology.

? Ability to understand and decipher client?s needs and to develop the appropriate surveys to reach the research information that will be of most value to the client and to solve their specific problem.

? Advanced communications skills both written and verbal. Must be able to write clear concise reports and be able to convey important strategic conclusions to the clients in a manner that they can understand and in turn do something with the information.

? Experience and background directing multiple projects and creating world class research and results.

? The ideal candidate would have experience and success in a Market Research environment

? Be willing to travel up to eight to ten days per month.  This normally will require 4-5 overnight trips per month.

? This position is located in Minneapolis and the ideal candidate would be willing to relocate. Under the right set of circumstances relocation may not be necessary.
