Engineer I - Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for providing engineering support and project management for related projects. Responsibilities include: equipment design, troubleshooting, process optimization, procurement, process/component qualifications and equipment implementation.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Minimum: B.S. in Engineering
Preferred: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum:
2 years in engineering experience in a manufacturing environment - one year with hands-on equipment engineering experience.

Preferred:
3 years in a manufacturing environment with at least 2 years equipment engineering experience in the medical devices, pharmaceutical or food industry.

DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Identifies appropriate vendors and obtains quotes from design and/or fabrication of equipment.
2. Reviews equipment design drawings and specification submitted by vendors.
3. Interfaces with machine manufacturers to insure equipment components are manufactured properly and within specifications.
4. Coordinate repairs and modifications on existing equipment.
5. Interfaces with R&D, Marketing, manufacturing operations management and engineers to implement and evaluate improvements to the manufacturing process.
6. Provide engineering support for department activities.
7. Maintain current knowledge of safety standards and FDA regulations.

OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide direction to the manufacturing operations on equipment related issues.
2. Perform hands-on process optimization using scientific analysis/engineering studies.
3. Evaluates manufacturing capacities including layout and capital requirements.
4. Specify, purchase and implement new equipment.
