Housing Associate

Position:  Associate/Senior Associate

Business Area:  Housing and Community Development

Location:  Fairfax, VA

Status:  Regular, Full-time

Reports to:  Director of Technical Assistance

 

Responsibilities:

 

? Providing strategic direction to clients, including conceptualizing, designing, and implementing technical assistance projects that help improve the effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency of homelessness and housing initiatives;

? Designing and delivering training;

? Developing written technical guidance;

? Mentoring and overseeing the work of junior staff; and

? Marketing products and services, including proposal preparation and public representation of the firm and business unit.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a graduate degree in Public Policy, Social Work or a related discipline with at least two years of experience in the field of homelessness.  In lieu of a graduate degree, additional years of directly relevant professional experience will be considered. 

 

Appropriate experience includes working for a nonprofit or government agency and/or as a consultant designing, structuring, financing and/or implementing federal and state funded homelessness and housing programs.  The job requires not only a detailed knowledge of how homeless and housing programs work, but also the ability to help others overcome organizational, procedural, and technical challenges that are barriers to effective performance.

? Strong interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively and cohesively in a team environment.

? Able to conceptualize and structure consulting engagements, including the management of technical assistance teams.

? Able to develop and capture business.

 

Candidates must have a thorough understanding of the HUD Continuum of Care planning process.  Candidates must also have expertise related to the Shelter Plus Care Program, the Supportive Housing Program, the Emergency Shelters Grant Program, and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS Program.

Salary:  Commensurate with experience.
