Life Actuarial Consultant

The Tillinghast business of Towers Perrin provides global actuarial and management consulting to insurance and financial services companies and advises other companies on risk financing and self-insurance. We help clients with a broad range of business issues, including those related to mergers, acquisitions and restructuring; financial and regulatory reporting; risk, capital and value management; products, markets and distribution; and financial modeling software solutions.

Job Description:

The Life/Financial Services division of Tillinghast is currently seeking candidates for a Consultant position. You will work on a variety of projects including some or all of the following:


Assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions or securitizations by building financial models, setting assumptions and analyzing results
Working in our financial management practice to help clients with statutory or US GAAP reserving issues, embedded value analysis, or capital adequacy concerns
Developing and pricing universal life and long-term care insurance products
Assisting clients with the implementation and/or other consulting needs of TAS Tillinghast Actuarial Software (?TAS?), MoSes or related actuarial software applications.

Responsibilities include:


Working with a team of experts on client engagements to solve client problems
Serving as the project manager on client engagements
Developing new business including: creating opportunities to discuss new business opportunities both through individual selling efforts and providing support to team sales efforts; using client relationships to identify client needs (explicit/implicit) for new/additional sales; broadening potential client?s understanding of firm?s capabilities; and formulating proposals demonstrating how the firm will address problems/issues identified
Making a valued contribution to the intellectual capital development of the firm

Requirements:


Successful completion FSA designation. An ASA moving towards FSA (1-2 exams remaining) would also be considered
5+ years work experience in a life insurance company, financial services organization or consulting firm
Financial modeling experience including building financial models using TAS and/or MoSes
Solid understanding of how the life insurance industry operates (including product knowledge, regulatory requirements, accounting systems, etc.)
Project management experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to think ?outside the box? and encourage new ideas and solutions
Ability to travel when required
