Position Overview
Primary responsibility is the development and coordination of target-market new business proposals for the national Retirement, Investment, Group and Health Care, International, and Workforce Planning practices. In this role, the associate ensures that top-quality proposals are prepared efficiently and on time, serves as the editor responsible for maintaining the quality of written new business materials, and serves as a writing/editorial resource for the company. The associate will also assist with collecting and maintaining standard language and information. Secondary responsibilities include providing general assistance to the team and office. The associate will preferably be based in Detroit, but there is some flexibility in staffing this individual in another Watson Wyatt office.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with staff to discuss, develop, and prepare new business proposals, proposal websites, and other related materials. This includes the following tasks:
- Research and gather client/prospect background information.
- Work with Watson Wyatt proposal team to write, edit, proof, coordinate, and produce quality, targeted, clear, coherent, consistent, accurate, and timely proposals.
- Schedule and attend strategic proposal and presentation coordination meetings, work with lead consultant or business developer to determine roles, responsibilities, and deadlines.
- Follow standard proposal process, including standard language, keeping proposal and presentation schedules, performing a significant portion of the writing and editing, monitoring progress, and overseeing the completion of all related items.
- Coordinate design and production of graphic items, such as printed tabs, graphs, charts, covers, etc.
- Work with and provide instructions to support staff for production and shipment of proposals.
- Track down and verify accuracy of information through various company resources. Contribute to proposal information database, help define and maintain best practices, seek and share reasonable process improvements, etc.
- Provide support to other team members as needed.
- Serve as a proposal writing and editing resource for the company. Remain consistently aware of and use good writing techniques and grammar principles.
Secondary (Back-Up) Responsibilities:
- Design, write/edit other materials as needed.
- Oversee work done by vendors related to job production.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
