Reinsurance Claims Specialist

The Reinsurance business of Towers Perrin provides global reinsurance intermediary services and consulting expertise that focus on the creative blending of traditional and nontraditional risk transfer vehicles. We help our clients with reinsurance strategy and program review; claims management and program administration; catastrophe exposure management; contract negotiation and placement; and market security issues.

Job Description:

The Technical Services Department is responsible for providing service to our clients through accurate and timely claims processing. In this role you will be responsible for servicing inactive clients by thoroughly reviewing claims and determining the appropriate course of action. You will enhance your communication skills as you correspond regularly with our clients and reinsurers. In this role you will report to one of the supervisors of the Technical Services Department.

Responsibilities include:


Reviewing and verifying incoming claims correspondence and determining next steps;
Advising reinsurers of all first notices, reserve changes, and status reports;
Processing and billing reinsurers for proofs of loss and reinstatement premium (where applicable);
Entering and maintaining statistical data by using the mainframe system as well as spreadsheets (where required);
Calculating and processing Letters of Credit (where required);
Collection of funds from reinsurers;
Adhering to department procedures and timeframes.

Requirements:


1-2 years of prior related work experience;
Strong computer skills, working knowledge of Excel;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong attention to detail;
Ability to set priorities and work independently;
Bachelors degree preferred but not required;
Overtime may be required.
